Barber-Collins Security - We Value Our Staff!!

Barber-Collins Security understands how important it is to recognize the efforts of employees.  Special programs have been implemented to celebrate employees who go above and beyond, stand out in excellence and have attributed to the positive reputation of the organization.

The "Shining Star" program recognizes and celebrates the outstanding work performance of individuals periodically throughout the year. This program is intended to share the achievements of extraordinary employees who have made smart choices, reacted in a manner that exceeds the expectation of the job and rewards team members who deserve to be recognized for a job well done.  These employees can be nominated by a co-worker, a Supervisor, an Operations Manager, the Client and/or the general public.

The "Years Of Service" program recognizes employees who hit specific anniversary's within the organization. These milestones are acknowledged at 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, 30 and 35 years of service. We celebrate your commitment and this program is a small way of showing you how much we appreciate your dedication.

The "United Way" program thanks employees who join us in supporting the community through bi-weekly/annual donations supporting the United Way.  Each month a random draw is made to recognize qualifying employees and they receive a prize.  In addition to this, their names are posted on this page and in the quarterly newsletter.

ERIC RAYMOND NOMINATED FOR A CITIZEN CITATION AWARD!!

Eric was contacted by the Office of the Chief of Police in April advising him that he was nominated for this prestigious award and that they were delighted to take this opportunity to recognize his actions which contribute to the safety of Waterloo Region.  They wanted to recognize Eric's involvement in locating a suspected sexual offender.

CONGRATULATIONS ASHOK MISHRA

This nomination came from a Client who wanted to recognize Ashok's response to a situation that occurred at their condominium.

While investigating a situation at their location, Ashok happened upon a victim who had been assaulted.  He immediately contacted the police and ambulance.  Once the police completed their investigation, they took the individual to the police station where she filed charges against the male suspect.  The police complimented the Client for the video footage and the incident reports that were provided.  They were particularly happy with the professionalism in which the matter was handled.

"Character is defined by what we do when we think no one is looking"

Barber-Collins received an email from a grateful Mother, who wanted to express her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the actions taken by Tristan when he was heading home after work.  Tristan happened upon her daughter in a situation that required medical attention.  Not only did Tristan contact emergency responders, he provided comfort while they waited for the ambulance.  In addition to waiting, Tristan took it upon himself to contact the young girls mother to advise her of the situation.  When the mother showed up at the scene, Tristan was very humble when asked for his personal information and the only real identifier was his name tag on his uniform.  The daughter was taken to the hospital and the following day received flowers from Tristan who sent her well wishes.  

Congratulations go to Tristan for going above and beyond, recognizing an emergency situation, taking on the role of first responder until EMS arrived and for reaching out to the young ladies Mother to apprise her of the situation. You are a poster child for our company mission-providing impeccable service (on and off the job), treating people with respect and dignity and doing your part to helping someone in need.

Your attention to detail and ability to recognize this has me in awe, thank you for all you do!  You are awesome!”

These employees were selected as the Shining Star by several tentants of a senior residence we were providing short term coverage while elevator maintenance was being performed.

Our office was contacted by several tenants of this location advising us that our staff behaved exceptionally, helping tenants with groceries, walkers and up and down stairs. They wanted to share that our staff treated them with kindness, respect and dignity.  Each email that our office received communicated the same message,  they wanted to thank us for sending qualified and kind men.

CONGRATULATIONS DAMIAN PARMENTIER

Damian was selected as the Shining Star for May by his Site Supervisor Aaron Bak and staff members working at the security site Damian was assigned.

On May 24^th, 2016, Damian responded to a person in crisis who was disturbing the peace.  Damian arrived on site and informed the staff that he would take care of the situation which resulted in contacting the WRPS and assisting them in apprehending the subject.  By communicating his intent to the site staff, they were assured the situation would be taken care of and this gave them peace of mind.  The staff relayed to the Client that they were extremely happy with his response and conduct.

Your actions and support have not gone unnoticed and we want to thank you for going above and beyond and providing exemplary service! Great Job Damian!

CONGRATULATIONS HUMAIR MALLIK

Humair was selected as the Shining Star for May by Operations Manager Jerry Collins.

While monitoring surveillance CCTV system on site, Humair witnessed a child's hand slide and become stuck in the door of an elevator at the condominium he is assigned.  We are told that he responded by jumping over a counter, racing down a hallway, a flight of stairs and back up a hallway to reach the elevator.  Having viewed the video footage, we noted that his response time was 34 SECONDS! We are happy to share that the child is fine and thanks to Humair's keen eye and excellent response time, was released from this dangerous situation within seconds.

Congratulations and Thank you Humair for going above and beyond and for being an excellent example of an employee who responds well under pressure.  Great job!!

My name is Annette, I am an Operations Supervisor. I am writing you today to pay a compliment to one of your employees. He is one of the security guards working at (undisclosed location). His name is Tim Goode.

This morning I witnessed him (Tim) dealing with an extremely irate patron. I have to say he handled the situation with grace and professionalism. He remained calm and respectful to the patron the entire interaction even though the man was yelling at him swearing at him to the point where the patron became aggressive kicking his belonging around.

Please pass on my observation to Tim Goode.  “Job Well Done!"

CONGRATULATIONS STEVE MOORE

Steve was selected as the Shining Star for January 2016

The following email was received from a member of the public regarding Steve.

“I was coming in for an overtime shift on Dec 11 at 4:30am.  I had to call Security to let them know I would be entering defined location at that hour of the morning. Crazy as it is.

Unknown to me Security was going to be on site because of overnight contractors that were there.  When I spoke to Steve he asked that I check in with him when I was in the building.  I agreed to that but did say to him I would be coming from the parkade and if I don’t show up by 4:30 come looking for me.  This was said jokingly but serious as well because of the early time of morning and not sure about the area being uptown.

Here is where Steve went above and beyond.  To my surprise when I came out of the parkade. He was waiting on the corner of the road outside of the parkade. I said are you Steve he said you must be Suzanne. We had a pleasant conversation and I thanked him for caring.  He said it was no bother and he wanted to make sure I felt safe.  I believe he said he thought I sounded unsure of the parking. 

Typing this gives me chills and tears.  He really is a credit to the security team we have here. Showing people matter. He didn’t have to come meet me. He obviously knows people and can pick up on verbal cues very well.

I just want it noted that his ‘good deed’ did not go unrecognized.

And to many people I have shared this with both professionals and law and security persons they all agree.. He is a credit to his job.  Thanks for your time”

Jeff was selected as the Shining Star for October 2015

The following email was received from a member of the public regarding Jeff.

I had an amazing experience today with a staff member of the airport today and I was hoping to get his name so that I could write him a letter and personally thank him.

My mom thought she had a flight with American Airline today at 3:20 pm.  I had lunch with her and left her in the airport alone. She found out soon enough that her sister who lives in Texas had confused the flights and it had departed at 7 am.  My mom was absolutely devastated. The security guard who was working alone in the airport was absolutely phenomenal with her.  He was so patient and understanding and calm and helpful.

I called to thank him but hours later I still can't stop thinking about how simply amazing he was. It is very rare these days you find someone who goes above and beyond.

CONGRATULATIONS DOUGLAS ROSS

Douglas was selected as the Shining Star for September 2015 by Operations Manager Mike Cook

Mike stated that in August, early evening, at one of our high profile security locations Douglas was monitoring the CCTV cameras. He observed a vehicle enter the lot.  The vehicle fit the description of a vehicle involved in a theft from the property 2 days before. The vehicle was observed driving to trailers that were in the lot.  The previous theft had involved a theft of property from a trailer. Police were called.  Police arrived catching the culprit in the process of breaking into a trailer.   The culprit was arrested and is being processed for the previous theft as well.  We always like to catch the bad guy.

In recognition of a job well done, we would like to thank Douglas for his swift and professional reaction and for being a key member of our security team.

CONGRATULATIONS QUINTANA CRAWFORD

The following email was received from a member of the public regarding Quintana in August 2015

On Sunday night my wife and I got lost in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, trying to find the Princess Theatre.   I entered a parking lot to turn around and try again.   One of your vehicles was just pulling out.  I jumped out and flagged it down.   I explained my predicament to the driver, and she tried several times to direct me.   Finally, my deepening deer-in-the-headlights expression probably helped her to suggest another alternative. "Follow me", she said, and led us for probably only about half a kilometer, right to the door, and saved a rare date night.

I cannot imagine that what she did was in her job description, or ever  to be approved of as a general practice, but I want you to know that  there is an employee out there, who, apart from knowing the area very well, is polite, helpful, friendly, people oriented, professional, and in every way a positive advert for your services.   When I asked, she said everyone called her "Kee", at least that is what it sounded like.

Everything else aside, the episode raised the profile of Barber Collins for at least one member of the public.
